Hi,

Snapshot: Is a photocopy of the Impromptu report(.imr), Users who don't have the access to database can use this sanpshot to see the report data. Sanp shot will not hit the database unless it request new column from the Database.  Extention of sanpshot is also
.imr

Hotfile: Hotfile is file where it stores data in local. we can use this hotfile to connect to multiple databases using Impromptu catalog, where catalog will connects only one databe at a time.
Eg:  Thers is Two databases 1. Oracle   2. Sqlserver2000, User want to see a report data which is coming from both the databases. In this case we can use hotfile .  Save eighter oracle/sql server data in to hotfile and add into catalog make appropriate join and create the report.

Thumbnale: Thumbnale is restricting number of records while retriveing from data base.
