As the name implies Replication Server in Sybase is used for data replication. In addition to data replication other roles taken by Replication Server in Sybase are data management and heterogeneous replication. The main role of Replication Server in Sybase is to provide the validity and availability of data throughout handling all risks and threats involved in data management in database efficiently.

With regard to data management role of Replication Server in Sybase it takes the function of moving data from one source to another as and when needed. Not only bulk movement of data from one source to another source is handled even subset of data can be moved from one source to another source as needed by users by the concept of data management role in Replication Server.
