Hi Rajesh,

Globalization is the process of designing and developing a software product that functions in multiple cultures/locations. A culture/locale is a set of rules and a set of data that are specific to a given language and geographic area. These rules include

  • Character classification
  • Date and time formatting
  • Numeric, currency, weight, and measure conventions
  • Sorting rules
  • The localization process refers to translating the application user interface (UI) or adapting graphics for a specific culture/locale. Most localization teams use specialized tools that aid in the localization process by recycling translations of recurring text and resizing application UI elements to accommodate localized text and graphics.

Globalization testing: is done taking into consideration that software should operate around the world. For Example: Yahoo.comLocalization testing : is done to customizing the software for a particular country. It includes the translation of menus and messages into the native spoken language as well as changes in the user interface to accommodate different alphabets and culture. For example: Silk test gives option to run the test scripts in the different country languages. Like : Japanese
