First day job is:

        Gone through the Product document and write the product oriented test cases.

On the first day of the joining the tester may read the doc related to the testing process that the company follow or may study test case format of the company & will try to get comfertable with it also study  Which testing tools the company use etc, & will be introduced with team member!!!

Do nothing! Just have a look at the way your new company does things and go with the flow since tesing is such a vague subject area anywhere you will go will almost certainly be different to your own experience.Definitely DO NOT go into a new company and start telling them how you were doing things in your previous one. This will just be viewed as arrogance and will not be viewed upon favourably by new colleagues even though you might know more than them.Go with the flow... to start with

Hi,

I would say , first thing one must do on first day of joining is understand the environment and get to know collegues and gain knowledge about what the whole testing is about.Always make questions ..so that you have bunch of questions handy to  ask.

on first day of joining the main thing is to understand the working structure of your team.TO whom you have to report?what will your responsibilities?If you have time you may get knowledge of project on which you have to work?

On the first day when you join as a test enginner, if you are allocated a project (means you are lucky) then try to understand the processes and policies of the company, then introduce to team and understand everyone rather than getting into testing details on the very first day. I am sure it will take ATLEAST one day (8 person hrs) to understand the policies and procedures of the company.Any comments on this?

Get to know colleagues, environment, go through any available training material, requirement Documents or even have someone knowledgeable explain about the project.
