Hi,I'm currently working in mainframes for 2 months. My age is 23 . I am very affraid of future in mainframes. The salary which i will get after some years. so please tell me whether i should stick to mainframes or should i change the technology, if so which.thankyou very much !

Every job, technology has its pros n cons. As far as Mainframes are concerned, its not going away anytime soon.

Hi,
Your fear regarding your future if you continue in mainframes is base less. Mainframes will be there for another 10 years atleast. Its true that many companies are migrating their DBs to oracle and the related ones. Still migration in itself is a very long procedure. So your career is safe for another 10 years atleast. In 10 years time you would be promoted to a management level employee where in your work will be platform independent. Hence no need to worry unnecessarily.

At the same time i would like to add that you will get a better pay if you work in some better technology (also ERP is a good option). So if you don have a long enough experience in mainframes, it will be better if you shift the field.

Your experience in mainframes is only for 2 months. If you want to change your field you can very well do it at this stage itself.As later on after gaining expereince in some other field if you change your field it would prove bad for you career. So this is the time for taking yoru decision as per your interest.But mainframes also have very good career options in it.All the Best.
