area of square=(1/2)*(1/2)=1/4 
area of rect=4*6=24=96*1/4 
that is 96 times of square area=rect area

1ft =12 inch

4ft=48 inch,6ft=72 inch.let the no.of squares be 'x'.

(1\2)*(1/2)*x=48*72

x=2*2*48*72

x=13824

answer is D.
