After opening mainframe, by default it ill show start menu. In start menu select command option, now goto TOOL bar-> there you can able to see one symbol with message" send file to host". Click on that->you will one window. enter your input file and ps in single quoted and click on Receive button.

PARM parameter is a positional in EXEC statement. where it is used to the pass the values or data to COBOL thru JCL.Max of 100 characters and for the storage it takes extra 4 bytes.Totally 104 bytes.Please correct me if m wrong.

How to find a program whether it is a COBOL or COBOL-DB2 program by looking at JCL?

Pure COBOL programs can be executed by EXEC PGM=. DB2 programs will need to be executed by EXEC PGM=IKJEFT01 with the SYSTSIN DD card with the plan/program name. If you are using IMS for checkpointing, then it is a little tricky.

I have a file to read ( which has many records ) & to insert the records in a Database.

If I encounter a record which is already inserted in IMS database ( which is a double insert , IMS Code = II ), then I need to skip that record & continue reading the next good records in the file to insert into the IMS database.

Some of it depends on shop standard. The shops I have worked on prefer keeping subroutines as dynamic. This keeps the region usage low and loading modules to memory as needed. Static increases load module size.

1. When module is big then (i.e. module contains lot of lines) static is better.
2. Simplicity is achieved via static call
