All types of lugs cannot be used for grounding, only ring types must be used to avoid grounding failures. Welded joints are much more reliable than bolted ones in case of grounding.

Cable glands serve the following purposes:

1. Fixing the cable mechanically to the panel.
2. Making proper electrical bonding of the panel with the armour of the cable (grounding).
4. Ingress protection to the panel after cable termination.
