How many rows can you add above a selected row in a list report

Answer is infinite.. But its better to restrict the number of rows based on the requirement to avoid performance issues..

I tried with this query we set rows upto 10000 and infinet also.(it is casuing perfomance issue more than  1000).Thankssiva
