Function module  stores in general repositary. That can be executed and tested seperately. We can raise expection in Function module.In subroutine can not be executed and tested seperately. We can't rasie exception.

What is the advantage of ALV Grid over ALV List ?

ALV list just displays the output in list format which is not editable whereas the cells in the grid display are editable as Mayank said above, but we cannot update database using the editable values. We can just use the edited contents to print the list.

ALV Lists can also be used to get a Zebra type display. Alternating colors.
