What are the two storage options available in Essbase and what are the differences?

1. Aggregate Storage Option ASO
* Used for more than 10 dimensions
* The majority of the dimensions will be distributed.
* It is impossible to write back in ASO. In the next versions we should be able to write it back.

2. Block Storage Option BSO
* Less Dimension and more dense dimensions
* Write back quality is present, good for application planning. The commercial programs are usually dense, the analytical cubes-sparse.

In ASO we have only one DB per app whereas in BSO we can have more than 1 DB in single app.

1- In ASO we can have only one data base but in BSO we can have more then one databases.
2- In ASO all dimensions will be sparse but in BSO dimensions will be of both types some of them will be sparse nad other of them will be dense.
3- In ASO we can not use complex calculations scripts so we uses MDX queries but in BSO we can use all type of calculation scripts.

In BSO data will be store in .pag file but in ASO data stores in .dat file.
