In layman's language and being not very technical, a stock transport order has following extra features or activities over stock transfer order:
1. In transit quantity can be monitored.
2. This order may be raised on the name of the transporter.
3. The recieving plant may value such stock on billing price or the price on the order.
4. The recieving plant adds the stock to its inventory(unrestricted-use stock) only after the GR is done.
5. The GR can be done against the order.
6. Usefull when the issuing plant does not have access to recieving plant system.
7.This is also more logical when the stock transfer is between different company codes.
THERE COULD BE MORE BUT THIS SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT FOR NOW.
