NTFS stands for new technology file system. It is an advancement over the FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 versions of the file system used in windows earlier.

In NTFS, theoritical it can store a file as large as upto 16Ex (Exabytes) but practically 16 Tb (approx minus 64kb).
