What is virtual memory

If the capacity of the ram is not much enough for the process which is running at that time then the remaining space(free space) in the harddisk will act as a main memory. That memory is called as virtual memory.

Virtual memory is an addressing scheme implemented in hardware and software that allows non-contiguous memory to be addressed as if it is contiguous
