What is difference between baseband and broadband transmission?

In a baseband transmission, the entire bandwidth of the cable is consumed by a single signal. In broadband transmission, signals are sent on multiple frequencies, allowing multiple signals to be sent simultaneously.

Baseband Signalling:

1)Uses digital signalling

2)No frequency-division multiplexing

3)

Bi-directional transmission

4)Signal travels over short distances

Broadband Signalling:

1)Uses analog signalling

2)Unidirectional transmission

3)Frequency-division multiplexing is possible

4)Signal can travel over long distances before being attenuated

Dear Deepika,

Diff betw Baseband and broadband

Baseband can carry both analog and digital signal where as broadband carries analog signal.

Baseband is like point to point communication and broadband to is point to multipoint communication.

base will carry single signal in a medium but broadband can carry multisignals through single medium with shared bandwidth

What actually are the differeces between a Bride and a Router? Between Broadband and Baseband, which one is advantageous?

Broadband refers to signaling method which includes a relatively wide range of frequencies but
Baseband refers to only one type signaling method using a relatively medium's full bandwidth.

Baseband communication uses TDM.  Whole bandwidth is provided to one user at a time.

This type of communication is basically used in LAN where data is transmitted in the form of packets (ETHERNET).

Broadband communication is based on FDM. More than one signal is transmitted at a time (but at different frequencies). These are used in television broadcasting.
