NIC stands for Machine's Network Interface card.This checks the destination address of the arriving packet and accepts the packet if it if destined to that machine else discards it.

If NIC is put into Promiscuous mode then  the NIC doesnot discard any packet that are not destined to the machine.

Good example is used Network Security or sniffers

NIC- is network interface card,
which will be used to connect the workstation in network,like Lan,local area network,which is used to communicate
the workstation in network,means like shared the resources means,data,file...etc
