as we know that the repro command is used for loading data in vsam file but for recovery of data we use export-import in export we copy the data and in import we copy the data and delete the data after copying it .

There is much faster way to do the same:

- Use FAVER utility to take a back up (very fast).  It will contain data as well as all definitions (base cluster, AIX, path, all parameters)

- XMIT dataset to hwre is has to go

- Use FAVER utility to restore it

Also, SORT utility is a faster tool to load VSAM than IDCAMS

FAVER is very good utility  as well as DFDSS. Both allow to work with entire cluster set (i.e, VSAM base cluster, Alternate indexes, Pathes).

But the major advantage over REPRO is that you can export MANY files and keep result in ONE physical file, and if needed  - restore multiple /selected file(s) from that single one.
