Hi friends am srinivas. i have attended on-campus of CTS at JNTU,hyd on 20/jul/05. iwant to share some of my experiences with u. 
 
PATTERN: 
1)Written test 40 Questions 60 minutes 
problems from probability,time&distance,progressions,4 to 6 from general english..... 
2)Technical + Hr for 30 min. 
Written test looks a little bit hard but answer those questions u r perfect first. so,that time will be adjusted. Don't get nervous, nobody can attempt full paper. 
Interview is so cool and every question they ask depends on ur previous answer. while giving answers see that u know everything u r saying about. Be confident while answering even it is wrong.Just go thru the 64-Q&A generally asked in interviews like why should we hire u?why do u think ur perfect for this company?Impress them with ur answers. 
MY HUNT FOR JOBS: 
1)TCS-----not attended due to missing of my name in the list. 
2)Kanbay---Written Qualified, but GD failed. 
3)MindTree---Absent due to health Problem. 
4)CTS-----Success

finally the most quite member of this group had got 
placed in Congnizant Technology Solutions on 8th june 2005 
held at oriental institute of science and technology,bhopal,MP 
 
recuitment pattern consist of 2 phase 
 
first phase=written  
second phase=interview 
 
written paper consist of all the quant qns asked in previous 
paper.they brought only one set GREEN.i did all the questions 
honestly though there some who cheated. 
i had a strong hand on Quant.that's why attempted all the Quant 
qns and 2-3 qns of english. i attempted 27out of 40. 
I suggest that cram all the quant qns of prevoius papers 
to clear first phase.to crack english one needs to have  
solid control over parajumbles,deductive logic, vocab etc. 
 
Interview- 
Q1-tell me about you background, family background. 
ans i told about my self,schooling with marks obtained,father name , 
occupation,mother name, house wife, sister. 
place i live and house as a single story. 
 
Q2-Tricy Qn-what have you given to enter enginnering? 
Ans- MP-PET 
 
Q3-what else 
Ans- AIEEE 
 
Q4- What subject you had 
Ans Physics,maths,chemisrty 
 
Q5- What is Inertia 
Ans- Answered Correctly. 
 
Q6-What is Static and kinetic friction. 
Ans- It Has been time since i had read physics, therefore  
i can't rememeber the these special terms. 
 
response- Ok it's Ok 
 
(they check how will you respond when you don't know the answer) 
 
Q7-Why should i hire you 
Ans- I has seen your pre placement talk and according to which 
i found out that CTS has been for 11 yrs in india and 
had earned a revenue of 1.7 million And expect 1 billion by 12th  
year. if you hire me i have capabilities by which you can  
reach your goal in 11 and half year

Q8-technical subject 
Ans - as i am a student of elecrtical and electonics therfore 
my favorite subject is Power system which deals with protection 
of the Electrical station. 
 
i had no idea of your subject therefore tell me about compuetr skills 
 
Q9-What are yoyr computer skills. 
Ans -everyone has there skills but i strechted on  
C++,Windows 98etc 
I had been a trouble shooter of windows was my asnwer 
 
Q10- qns regarding trouble shooting 
Ans i answered well. 
 
Q11- (some questions regarding physics class XII regarding 
optics) 
Ans- i answerd smartly even though i donot know  
as there was qns "i man is standing out side on road 
below a dim tube light in night and you are standing beside your  
window with all light on. he waves his hand but you  
donot anwer him. why so? 
i answer - there could be 2 reasons 
1 reason-i might not be able see since he standing 
in dark and that to in night 
2 reason-i might be physically present and will be  
mentally absent. 
 
Q12- explain 1 reason 
Ans- after thinking i said " i donot know" 
(Clue- even if you donot know ,donot respond immediatly 
but wait for sometime and then say sorry or i donot know) 
then explained the answer- when we see a bright thing  
our pupil expands but in dark in contracts due to which 
we tends to ignore it(optics funda)) 
 
Q14- do watch movies? 
Ans- Yes (smiles) 
(smiles) 
 
Q15-how do watch the movies ie what's the mechanism. 
Ans- taking magnetic tape medium many picture are  
imposed on the magnetic tape by recording mechanism like  
direct recording, frequency recording et al depending about 
your requirement. when these pictures are moved with 16  
pictures per second our eye sees them as a motion movies. 
i had read about recoding mechanism if you want i can  
explain it in brief.

(trap - donot start your technical skills straight away 
but do it in hr qns.) 
 
Q13 do you want to know anything from us? 
Ans- yes sie, i have some query. 
response-go ahead 
 
 
 
Q be me-what crteria you have to evaluate me if i get into  
Cts(Never in the interview say Abbreviation say the full name, 
i said cognizant technology solutions eveytime in interview) 
Ans - my dear its time for them to answer 
 
Q be me-which department is needed the most to increase your 
revenue 
Q be me-how can i become a member of that department 
Q be me-why cts is not listed in nasdaq and mumbai dalal street 
 
i donot remenber the rest of quetins .there might be 2-3 more questions 
. donot get afraid after reading these Qns as i was the only to  
have been questioned these type of quetion in a batch 92  
shortlisted for interview. 
 
my interview got finished at 4:26 and waited till 9:35 for  
results. 
 
Tips i learned from this interview and my dicovery regarding interview 
1. if you donot know the answer donot respond immediatly 
but wait for 2-3 secondds and then say i cannot remember or i  
donot know or sorry 
2. tell the truth 
3. if you are confident no one can shake you.after the interview  
i felt that interview was of very small time since i  
enjoyed the inetrview though i was so nervous before interview 
that 2 voluters tried to pacify me, i was  
shivering like as if i was standing bare footed  
on the ice but after the interview i was the most satisfied  
enginner to say that my selection 
is for sure. 
4. if donot have good communication skills and you tends 
to stop then during stopping period behave as if you are thinking  
or a new point has just strike your mind. 
eg.What is inertia 
inertia is the state of the body in which a body tends to remain in 
its state if .... 
(i can't remember so after 1 second say) nothing acts.(then i 
remembered and said) ie no extrnal force is put on the sbody. 
so final answer -inertia is the state of the body in which  
a body tends to remain in its state if ....nothing acts. and sir 
this can be a extrenal force on the body. 
 
also i am sending the question paper of the CTS 
as my first and last contribution to chetana group.

i happened to go through the article you had posted on the internet. it was really useful for me.i would also like to know if you can mail me all the company's question papers you have so i can have a better idea of what type questions i can expect during the selection procedure.

Firstly CONGRATULATIONS for getting selected for CTS. And I also want to appreciate ur efforts in mailing all of us.  
Srinivas I'm a MCA final year student and we are expecting CTS to be here in VIZAG in a few weeks( I do not know exactly when, if u have any idea plz do pass on to me). I would like to know the questions that u had in ur written test. And i would also like to know wat all preparations did u take for gettin through the interview.
