Do I need to do any settings?

I am installing QTP in the same mechine where as POS. But when I record, does it recognizes the objects? and do i need to write any code?

Iam having a problem in recognising the list view how can i make it recognisable using descriptive programming or writing function for that..Is it possible to write function to select the particular option in the list or tree view of the application? pls send me the code for selecting the list view but not by recording
