Mapping is nothing but flow of data from source to Target, we r giving instructions to power center server to move data from source to targets accourding to our business rules, if more business rules r there in our mapping then its copmlex mapping.regards,rma

Normalizer is used with COBOL database, In COBOL database data is stored in denormalized form, It is used to create multiple rows from single row of data or in other words it converts denormalized data into normalized form.

Pros: Loading, Sorting, Merging operations will be faster as there is no index concept and Data will be in ASCII mode.Cons: There is no concept of updating existing records in flat file.         As there is no indexes, while lookups speed will be lesser.

It depends what database you are using. If you are using Oracle or SQL server it should not be the case. But if your database is Teradata or Netezza then that will happen. Because Teradata and Netezza uses multiple parallel processing units.ThanksAshis
