A) True, 'poka yoke' devices prevent errors from occuring. 

The term literally means 'mistake-proofing' in Japanese.    An example in consumer products would be the door switch in a microwave oven.   Since it is harmful to operate a microwave oven with the door open (which is why every microwave oven has a Faraday cage to block harmful microwave radiation), a switch is installed which automatically disconnects an activation button whenever the microwave door is open. 

Poka yoke devices can be implemented in any step of a manufacturing process where something can go wrong or errors can be made.
