u can find out the database time zone by usinng
select dbtimezone from dual
u can also alter the database time zone by
alter database set time_zone='asia/calcutta';

the alter database set time_zone statement returns an error if the database contains a table with a timestamp with local time zone column and the column contains data.the change does not take effect until the database has been shut down and restarted.

u can change session time zone by following comman alter session set time_zone='asia/hong_kong';
