Embedded system combine computer hardware(like chips) and software to build up specific application devices.now days we are using pda,smart phones etc, are embedded systems.

Embedded systems is nothing but embedding software into hardware...
A software that controls hardware..
Simple example would be washing Machine..
We set to wash after which cloths will be dried and given to you..
So its the Software that you have written is making the Hardware(Washing machine/Motor) to work in that way..
