What is Adjustment Factor in Estimating Test Case Duration. Explain in detail
I guess it is the grace time given while estimating the time duration a TC may take for execution.
This is basically to adjust the time for unexpected delays and failures.
Lack of WILL POWER has caused more failure than
lack of INTELLIGENCE or ABILITY.

Hi,
while calculating the complexity of the test cases it is decided by several factors and some of them are:
- number of transactions
- interfacing with other test cases
- verificaton points
- test data
- checkpoint
- data table
- reports if any to be generated
- exception issues
- adjustment factor
based on the above factors it is estimated as either simple or medium or complex.
Adjustment factors are those which acts as a one of the criterion while estimating the complexity of the test cases, based on which the test execution can either be slowed down or may take longer time than estimated.
Some of the adjustment factors are
- domain knowledge & complexity
- technical know how
- integration with other hardware devices such as hand-held devices, scanners, printers etc.,
- multi-lingual support
- software/hardware set up
- environment set up
- build management
- configuration management
- operating system combinations
- browser combinations
- stable requirements
- scripting language complexity
- script planning and design for modularization
- offshore/onsite coordination
- test data preparation
