Re: Configuration Management
Hi rational clear case is a popular version control and software configuration management (scm) tool. It is a product of ibm. Some of the features which showcase it are - - rational clearcase 2 types of scm configurations - ucm based and basic clearcase. Ucm which is unified change management enables additional scm features by integration with clearquest.
- clearcase can be supported on number of platforms like unix, solaris and windows.
- it enables branching, labelling and versioning of directories as well as files.
- clear case creates a vob - version object base that stores different file elements, dervied objects and metadata of the objects . You can create replicas of entire vob or mount vob's as required
- has a built in audit trail for viewing history changes.
disadvantages - comparitively slower compared to other configuration tools like vss or cvs. - comparitively complex compared to vss cheers....
