What are the scenarios for sending invitation to a friend or adding a friend in our buddy list?

Sending Invitation to a friend includes
a.providing email id of the friend
b.Invitation mail should be sent to friend
c.check the links provided

See in adding friends
a.friend should get request mail
b.there must be a link regarding accept or deny request
c.that link should redirect him to the page containing friends request
d.if he accepts then friends list should be updated
e.if he denies then requested user should not be added to his friends list


i feel sending invitation and add friend are different .....not same
