What can be the possible test cases . scenarios to test a search engine, say for exmple "Google" ???
Thanks,
hi friend..
Your question is quite confusing, as per my understanding do you need to know positive test cases.. If it is so then positive test cases for ex: enter the google url as
Google after entering the url google home page will be displayed this is the positive test case
And if u need to know how many possible test cases to test google application then i am sorry friend .. no one can provide it is not a simple task according to my view..
Thanks
Deepasree
Hello All,
I am agreed with Deepasree...no one can provide positive test cases for google ...i think you are not able to describe your question.

hi
negative test cases for the browser..
step no 1
steps open the browser
data enter ww.abc.com
valid ie, firefox,safari
invalid nil
expected result the abc page will not be opened
actual results ABC page is not opened
Thanks
Deepasree
Hi Deepasree,
In the above negative test case for the browser......U mentioned "The abc page will not be opened" as an expected result.
You are entering the URL for the abc site and expecting it to not open.
So, this step will always fail (since it opens abc site always), apparently the test case too. I don think this is a negative test case.
Its not necessary that every requirement must have a negative test case.
Plz correct me if am wrong.
Hi friends,
ER(Expected Result)=AR(ActualResult).
Thanks&Regards,
Priya
Hi,
Scenario 1:Check whether the Search engine("Google") works.
Testcases:
Step1:cursor over the IE icon;ER:The IE icon is highlighted .
Step 2:Click over the IE Icon;ER:The Internet explorer Window opens.(With the default Page.).
Step 3:Enter the url in the address bar;ER:The text should be entered or accepted .
Step 4:Click enter .ER: the address bar address is preceded by "http://"and followed by"/" and the home page is displayed with the search box.
Thanks,
Priya

Hi Deepa,
I think i got what you are expecting, that how can you validate the search cretaria selection and validation of the text box...
If this is what you are expecting then...there will be some requirements against the textbox..where you enter the search text and you need to validate in such a way search engine is searching for the individual word or taking all sentense as a word and...what we enter is in First charectors or in mid of the Sentence.
Cheers,
Praveen.
There are many order in which test cases should be written ..Which is the standard order to be followed..Say ,configuration, functionality, validation ..etc
Functional , Non functional, security , reliablity ... 1 TC for each type of testing
Hai friend,
Search forum you can find n number of examples, in the same section.
Thanks
Deepa
