    Sorter and Joiner

How come sorter and joiner are included in ACTIVE TRANSFORMATION category. Because Definition of Active transformation can change the no., of rows that passes through it from source to target. But in joiner or Active transformations, it passes all the rows. This must include in Inactive Transformation ?

Can anyone sugest me? am I right or wrong?
    Please reply with clear example

as u said the no of rows will be changed at the output port in active transformation....and this is happening in sort and joiner....in sorter transformation property DISTINCT option is there to rectify repeated value....and in joiner transformation as per the condition given the no of rows will be changed at output port....

hope this will enough description of ur query...
