Direct Indirect Option in Flat Files

when we are using flat files, their is an option direct & indirect. When we will use direct and indirect. Please give me brief concept on this and give me one example to implement this indirect option.

Indirect :--- If you have multiple flat files different location or different names of file with same structure you can store the all files path in a New file, give newly created file name in the session properties, afterwards make it as Indirect ok ,
