Knowledge on database and report query

I, am quite new in testing. Can someone please explain to me how relevant knowledge on database and report query is to testing.

If you are doing database testing or want to be database tester, then it matter a lot.For functional and regression tester's, it's ok if you are familiar with general database concepts and knows simple query writing.
