    measure defect aging

Can anyone explain how do i have to measure defect aging and defect retesting aging? (Consider the defect which is reopened in the subsequent release and closed finally)

Note : This is the question asked by a visitor Manoj.

    Re: measure defect aging

Defect Aging is the time gap between defect identification and defect fixing (i.e first time when a defect is opened to the close stage - this can involve the reopen or the differed stages as well)

defect retesting aging : is the time gap between the defect reopen stage to the close stage.. this would not be considered from the defect open stage...

when a defect is opened and thru the resolution type when the dev team do not identify it as a bug then they go to close it... but if as a tester i am not satisfied I go to reopen the defect by changing the perception of the defect inorder to convince it as a bug to the dev team. so this bug is again retested and the cycle considered as defect retesting aging.
