hi all
what is the difference between exploratory testing & Ad-hoc testing?
Exploratory testing is a kind of Ad-hoc testing techniques.
Ad-hoc testing techniques could be Monkey Testing, Exploratory Testing, Pair Testing etc. that are followed when the testing team has no complete knowledge of the s/w under development.
It is a risky and unethical practice.
Lack of WILL POWER has caused more failure than
lack of INTELLIGENCE or ABILITY.

Ad-Hoc Testing is a part of Exploratory Testing. Ad-Hoc Testing is most often used as a complement to other Types of Testing.
Exploratory Testing is simultaneous learning, test design, and test execution.
Exploratory testing - often taken to mean a creative, informal software test that is not based on formal test plans or test cases; testers may be learning the software as they test it.
Ad-hoc testing - similar to exploratory testing, but often taken to mean that the testers have significant understanding of the software before testing it.
