Hi ,
Text Area Checkpoint- Enables you to check that a text string appears within a defined area in a Windows application, according to specified criteria
Text Checkpoint - Enables you to check that the text is displayed in a screen, window, or Web page.When checking text, QuickTest tries to retrieve the text directly from the test object.
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I believe that an entire Text area would be a WebElement. So for a Text Area, at least in my opinion, it is the most convenient if not best, to use a Standard Checkpoint. As for its definition, its to check if the particular WebElement at hand exists when page loads.
Hi All,
M learning QTP using trial version. I want to apply text checkpoints on FlightReservation application like whatever option I'll select in depart from list box should appear on FlightConfirmation Page.
I have tried to store the selected "Depart from" location option in the variable but I didnt able to solve this. Help appreciated.
Thanks

(Try a standard checkpoint instead. It should work.) <- previous answer
Ok, maybe I didn't read your question carefully. Please disregard my previous answer. So, are you saying that when you select a Departing City, you want to be able to somehow verify that it is the city the Application registered. Well, you can select the city, go to the Itinerary Booked page, and capture the WebElement from the WebTable which has the Departing City listed, along with time. You can use a simple script to retrieve the data from that particular Cell, or use a Standard Checkpoing (with Regular Expressions) to capture the same.
This is a working script to retrieve the data stored in that particular cell:
strDptConf = Browser("micclass:=Browser").Page("micclass:=Page").WebTable("innertext:= Flight Confirmation.*","index:=0").GetCellData(3,1)
Print strDptConf
