How to create a Data Driven Test in Rational Robot
Friends,
I am new to Rational Robot tool and at present practicing it. Need to automate the test for Data Driven Test i.e., like accessing the values from Data Tables in QTP.
How to create such test ?
Also, I am facing one more problem. On trying to record on Java GUI which is implemented using Swing components, an error dialog with message "This application has failed to start because rttss.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.".
Upon re-installing also, the same is found. No operation is possible after this dialog is displayed. Reboot will the only option to start work in Windows again.
Tried on two machines, the same problem was noticed.
Please, reply with your suggestions and solutions; I am waiting for it....

Re: How to create a Data Driven Test in Rational Robot
In Rational robot, Data Driven test can be created using Data Pools. Data pools can be created from Test Manager and then in robot script can be written making using of those Data pools.
There are five basic functions used for Data pool like, SQAdatapoolopen(),SQADatapoolFetch(),sqadatapoolvalue(),sqadatapoolrewind(),sqadatapoolclose().
Detailed help can be founf in robot's user guide or tutorial.
For Java error, activate the Java enabler from the programs menu-> Rational Robot.
Cheers,
Nidhi

Nidhi,
Thanks, for your reply and help !
I have started to work with Datapools from yesterday afternoon. I got it while searching in the help contents. Will ask, if I get any doubts regarding Datapools topic.
For the other problem i.e., error dialog displayed upon recording with the Swing GUI components, the Java enabler was enabled first and then the recording was done on desired GUI layouts. I am getting that error, even with enabling Java or without enabling Java. With this problem, I am not able to proceed further for working on the Swing components.

Check the path C:\WINDOWS\system32 and see whether rttss.dll is available or not..If not then reinstall Test Manager.

Re: How to create a Data Driven Test in Rational Robot
Nidhi,
I was able to work with Datapools.
I have installed Rational Robot (trial version) in 'c' drive under the folder rational. The folder by name 'common' under folder 'rational' has the *.dll file that was said earlier in the conversations. The dialog header has the title 'jawaw.exe'.
I copied that file to system32 folder of Windows. And, starting to record on the Swing compoents, same error dialog with another *.dll file missing was displayed. Copied all the *.dll files of /rational/common to system32. Same problem is observed.
Also, let me how to configure Rational Robot for Java testing apart from running the java enabler. Is their any specific way to install Rational Robot. The JDK, I am using is 1.5 version. Does, Rational support only till JDK 1.4 releases ?
