    Types of testcases to automate

    Hi i am new to Qtp

    i have a doubt ,,,,
    Can any one tell what type of testcases we automate?

    I would automate the following candidates:

    + Highly data-driven
    + Highly repeatable
    + The ones that access those components of the application that I feel have a good chance to fail
    + The former can also be said about your architecture
    + The ones that take into consideration the changes to made to the application

    Hi

    QTP is recommended for Regression testing. so test cases used for regression testing are ideal to automate

    However you can also use QTP for DB Testing, Functional Testing, GUI Testing.

    Anshoo has given a good answer. Sycho is also right. We generally automate the regression and smoke test cases.

    Because automation is beneficial only if you need to run same test case many times, if you have to execute it one or two times, it's better to do it manually.
