Thread: How to use QTP for automating variable data

hi friends

1)I m begineer in QTP i have to automate a simple signup part of my web application ,i recorded the sign up part with parameterization for different user id , but when i run it ,it stops at word verification part ,as word verification can not be predicted by us it ,every time it is different.Is there any by which QTP can take such values without stopping?


2)I installed QTP on my laptop it got installed completely without any problem when i try to open installed QTP it asked me for type of application eg :-1)active x controls 2)web application 3)
visual basic . i tried individauually for all these options but nothing happens after selecting these options.there is no probm of license also


Pls reply soon as it is stopping me from moving further

i don't understand what is word verification...
can u just explain me that..

Solution #1:

Word verification cannot be automated. The word verification part itself was introduced so that people don't use automation tools on login pages/sign-up pages.

The only solution to this is, talk to the developers and ask them for the pattern in which they generate it. or Ask them to keep the value constsnt only till the testinmg is done.

Solution #2:

We faced the same problem on one of our systems. We tried reinstalling QTP, but no use. Finally we had to call the IT guys from our office. They did something and now its working fine. I'll get back to you if I get the solution.
Till then may be you could get hold of someone from IT department.
