Re: Differences
Online transaction processing (or oltp) is a class of programs that facilitate and manage transaction-oriented applications. Oltp also refers to computer processing in which the computer responds immediately to user requests. An automatic teller machine for a bank is an example of transaction processing. On line analytical processing, or olap, is an approach to quickly providing answers to analytical queries that are dimensional in nature. Databases configured for olap employ a multidimensional data model, allowing for complex analytical and ad-hoc queries with a rapid execution time. A data warehouse is the main repository of the organization's historical data
