loading data into .csv format using plsql
Hi All,
I have a requirement as follows;
A procedure will be called from the front end ..
Immediately the out put of the procedure should be extracted into .csv file and the file should open immediately..so the font end user will view the data in excel and save it for his further reference..
I am trying with the util package...is that the best way...
I wanted to know whether there is any other way to do this task..
Thanks,
Vijay

I have used the UTL_FILE previously. You can also use java to do the same. Here is a link to Tom Kyte's site that has a good detailed example of using utl_file by creating an owa_sylk procedure.

What is your procedure exactly doing?...is it feeding the data of a select query in to a file or reading a data from one file and feeding in to a csv?
