Can the programer use VALUE clause in Linkage section.If the clause is used what will happen?

It is not that the programer cannot use VALUE clause in Linkage section.But if the VALUE clause, is used in Linkage Section it will be treated as documentation.

With Enterprise Cobol for Z/OS, You'll get a warning at compilation (treated as comment) but process may be run

Only level 88 values have sense in linkage section
