It is a rather sophisticated tool designed for testing. It is used for documenting requirements, linking these to test cases, executing tests, managaing defects and reporting. You can also execute various types of automated tests in other applications from Quality Center.

Test Director is Test Management tool. You can make requirement..make test cases for these requirements, execute those test cases and log defects if ocured. Tracebility of all the events and there interelation is the best thing about it. so to manage the entire testing process TD is used.

Test Director is one of the efficient Test Management tool available, which is a product of Mercury.

Using Test Director all the test management activities can be carried out. Following are the some of the functions of Test Director:

i. Using the Requirement options all the Requirements can be mapped into the Test Director.
ii. Using the Test Plan tab, the test cases can be stored and managed, which will mapped to the requirements.
iii. In the Test Lab tab, the test cases written can be selected for execution. The execution can either be manual or automation. For executing the test cases by using automation tools, the script written in the tools can be linked from Test director itself and executed and the results are populated and updated in the Test Lab section.
iv. In the defect tab all the defects can be stored. The defects can either raised by failing the test cases or by using "Add Defects" new defects can be added.

For all the Test cases, requirements, execution results and the defects, corresponding reports, and graphs can be generated using the inbuild technology.

We can send the Bug Report created in Excel sheet to TD.
For that we need to we install MSexcel addin into TD.
Excel->Tools->Macro->security->Low->ok->Close Excel.

As soon as you got to TD,you see->TD addin->Microsoft
addins-Msword addin,Ms excel addin--> downlaod->run->run-
>close TD.

Now go back to MS excel in tools we can see export to TD
option.
