    Why did you shifted from programing to software testing

    Hi Friends,

    I am an MCA. I did my 6 months training in programing and then I shifted my career to software testing. Now whenever I go for an interview i am asked "Why did you shifted from programing to software testing?"

    Please help me, What can be a good answer to this question?

    Hi! Saurabh,

    why dont u remove that programming thing form your resume?
    And you can say to be a good Tester, I thought i need to learn programming first.(pls elaborate & reframe it in ur own words)

    The simplest way is to show ur passion and interest towards Testing.

    You have to convince that u feel proudy to be a tester and really enjoys your work (testing).

    It is strange. Usually good companies prefer Testers with programming background. If somebody asks you why you shifted to software testing, you can tell him, i write the code to break the dev code and do not see much difference between Test and Dev.

    hi,

    Before i say something i just want to ask were you into C, C++ etc, if so tell them that you want to be specialised in one of the programming languages, so that you will be able to understand the internal code, which will be helpful to the tester to perform in depth testing. And tell them why did you choose this field and how dedicated you will be.
