Re: manual testing
Hi ,
Test script :
Test script is the instruction in the test program. It defines the action pass/fail criteria. For Example if the action is "to enter a valid account number" the expected result is that the data are accepted.Entering invalid number should yield a particular error message.
Test case :
A set of test data and test program ( test scripts) and their Expected results .A test case validates one or more system requirements and generates pass or fail.

I think it depends on what company/shop you work for. In the projects I have worked, they mean the same thing.

What is the relationship between test scripts and test cases?
Hi Prasad,
Test scripts and test cases almost refers the same thing but it differs.
Test scripts is a descriptive programming which is created by the Automation testing tools. When you are supposed to test a functionality in the application you will be recording using the automation test tools for which the Test script is created and also the test scripts are written manually and enhanced for validating the functionality using the Checkpoints. Test scripts are written using Test Script Language. The result of the test script will either be pass or fail.
Test cases are written for the Manual Testing Activity. For a functionality to be tested the test cases are written and then these test cases are executed. Test cases will have the following fields, 1. Description - what is going to happen or the action to be done 2. The input value 3. The expected result and the 4. The actual result. The expected and actual result should match inorder for a test case to pass.
