Solve for the brother sister mistery

A man and his sister were out walking together one Saturday morning. The man pointed across the street to a boy and said: ‘That boy is my nephew.’ The woman replied: ‘He is not my nephew.’ Can you explain this.

Shenoy's answer is much relevent to this one.
but we can call spouse's nephew as ur nephew too..

This is the dictionary referece for nephew:

    1. a son of one's brother or sister.
    2. a son of one's spouse's brother or sister.

    refer the link:

    nephew - Definitions from Dictionary.com

Anyways thats ok.But its too round about way of thinking...I felt that as somewhat absurd!!

But since it was based on lateral thinking., I appreciate that u thought quite differently compared to others..

I am not much clear with relations.
but i think one can't always have the same relation as their brother.
(especially in the case if in law relations)
