Is there any other name for this Random testing

    Hi,

We do a type of testing in our org where we will not have test cases/scenarios to execute. We randomly test the application and we call it as "Random testing". Eg. We will write a case to check for the display of error message when the username is not entered and clicked on the login button in the login page.We will pass the case since the error msg is displayed. If the error msg is not centrally aligned we cannot fail the case. Instead we file it as a bug in the Random testing. Testing the application randomly without any test cases.

Is there any other name for this Random testing ?

This is an example of exploratory testing.

But, sometimes there are “test cases” available in exploratory testing.

Lack of WILL POWER has caused more failure than
    lack of INTELLIGENCE or ABILITY.

What you are doing is not random testing.Random testing is different type of testing used to randomly select the test case and run,It is risk based testing.

As per my knowledge you are doing Ad-hoc or may be exploratory testing.

Actually "Exploratory Testing" is a kind of Ad-hoc testing.

    Dear sutnarcha,

There is a difference b/w two,

Ad-hoc testing performed without planning and documentation. The tests are intended to be run only once, unless a defect is discovered.

Exploratory testing is an approach in software testing with simultaneous learning, test design and test execution.
