Can any one tell me about ISTQB certification

Istqb is a non-profit organization responsible for defining various guidelines such as examination structure and regulations, accreditation, certification etc. Working parties within the istqb are responsible for developing and maintaining the syllabi and exams. The istqb comprises representatives from each existing national board.

What is the istqb certified tester program? the istqb certified tester program provides certification for software testers internationally. There are currently two levels of certification: the foundation level and the advanced level certificate. For both, international working parties develop and maintain internationally uniform curricula and exams.

How many istqb certified testers are there? approximately 20,000 software testers currently hold istqb compliant certificates. Most of them can be found in europe, since the program has just recently been introduced into asia and the u.s.

ISTQB is an International level certicate that is divided in to 2 division

1. Foundation level
2. Advanced level

Foundation level is mandatory to go for the Advanced Level

Also for Advanced Level you should have 24 months of testing experience along with the Foundation Level Certification.

Advanced Level has three sub levels

a. Technical Tester
b. Functional Tester
c. Test Manager

The Syllabus is same for all these levels.

ISTQB is one of the testing qualification board in which we can get a certification with respect to the domain selected.
There are two major part in ISTQB
1.Fundation Level
2.K1,K2,K3 level.

Note:Once completing the foundation level then only we are eligible for taking K1,K2 & K3 level.

Hi, this is sathish kumar, at present i am attending istqb classes. August 1st week there is exam, for that i am preparing. Istqb - international software testing qualification board, it is foundation level, totally manual. 6 chapters are covered for this certification. They are : 1) fundamentals of testing - 7 m 2) testing throughout the software life cycle - 6 m 3) static techniques - 3 m 4) test design techniques - 12 m 5) test management - 8 m 6) tool support for testing - 4 m total - 40 m max. Marks : 40 pass marks : 26 all are multiple choice questions bye, sathish kumar ph : 98498 31241

Study from book "Foundations of Software Testing" by Dorothy Graham, Erik Van Veenendaal, Isabel Evans, Rex Black. It's a very good book and I have cleared ISTQB Certification Foundation Level Exam by reading this book. Also refer to some question papers present on ISTQB site. All the best for your exam!!!!
