    Re: asp question

    Hi,

Difference between Response.Redirect and Server.Transfer are

    1. Response.Redirect is a client side round trip and page History is maintained in case of it while Server.Transfer is a server side round trip page History is not maintained in this case.

    2. Reponse.Redirect can pass querystring alongwih URL while Server.Transfer can't do that.

    3. In Reponse.Redirect while Page Life cycle is executed while execution is stopped in Server.Transfer and control moved the target page.

    Re: asp question

    Response.Redirect("file like aspx,html,website etc")
here file can be any where ie it may be in our local system or in remote area like in the net anywhere it can get that and execute but it can't carry values.if we want to send any values we should use Query string which are the values we give in the url.
    server.Transfer("file")
should be in the present system.it carries values

    Re: asp question

response.redirect is used to navigate between different webpages and websites also.....
in this user information can be maintaned from one page to another page using requst.querystring state management technique

server.transfer is used to navigate between webpages only....here user info can be maintained in the form of context....

server.tranfer redirect the user directly to the server. So there is no round the trip . Hence there is no load on server

    Re: asp question

simplest way to describe the difference is that response .redirect locates another page in server whereas server.transfer transfer the user from one server location to another so user is travelling.
