Hi all, what is showatopper bug?

A Bug or Defect which stops you to proceed further in Testing is known as Showstopper Bug.

For example, you are testing a Banking application in which you have to test the functionality "Update Account". For updating the Account you need to get the details from the Transactions which will have all the Credit and Debit History. So while testing the Update Account Functionality you encountered with a Bug which stops to retrieve the records from the Transactions Table. Without getting the values retrieved for the transaction you can not update the account. In this case the Bug associated with the retrieval of records from Transaction Table is a Showstopper bug, which stops you to proceed further in testing the Update Account functionality.

A showstopper bug is a bug with highest priority and highest severity.It stops an application to proceed to its further testing.
