    Re: Entry and Exit Criteria

Entry criteria in Testing means the criteria which has to be satisfied for the testing activity to be started. For example if you have to start testing a application, then following are some of the entry criterias:
    1. Application should be deployed
    2. Version number should be changed
    3. Access needed for testing the application should be given to the appropriate testing team
    4. Database should be accessbile
    5. Test plan should be approved

The testing activity will be considered as completed when all the activities that are necessary for an application to exit mentioned in the exit criteria are satisfied. Following are some exit criterias for the completion of smoke test in an application.
    1. Major functionalities should be tested.
    2. All the smoke test results should be passed.
    3. Smoke Test execution results should be approved.

Hope this would have made clear.

    Re: Entry and Exit Criteria

Smoke testing is non-exhaustive software testing, ascertaining that the most crucial functions of a program work, but not bothering with finer details. The term comes to software testing from a similarly basic type of hardware testing, in which the device passed the test if it didn't catch fire the first time it was turned on. A daily build and smoke test is among industry best practices .

    Re: Entry and Exit Criteria

    Hi,

Entry criteria (start) and exit criteria (end) helps us to test a phase from start to end so that we can move to next phase. When we meets entry criteria we can start the testing phase, and when we meets exit criteria we can close the exiting phase and can move to next testing phase.

    Re: Entry and Exit Criteria

We follow below process to define entry and exit criteria which comes under “Release criteria”:
    Entry Criteria:
Dev exit criteria meets, then SIT entry critiera starts.
    SIT Entry Criteria:
SIT BVT tests must pass before SIT begins. These tests must be defined by QA and delivered at approximate 1 week prior to Code Complete. Issue related to SIT BVT can be entered as issues in Product Studio and be tracked by Source = SIT and How Found = BVT.
    Exit Criteria:
SQA Sign-Off Criteria: The release criteria goal for release to UAT/production is:
PASS I – All test cases in each project will be executed.
    PASS I Exit Criteria
    • All Priority test cases are executed.
    • All PRI 1 and PRI 2 Test cases are executed with at least 80% Pass criteria.
    • All Severity 1/2, Priority 1/2 code bugs are resolved and fixed. If any Severity1/2 or Priority 1/2 bugs are active, exceptions will be discussed in release level triage and SIT team will approve based on the impact on Pass 2 execution.
PASS II - All Priority test cases will be executed. E2E test cases and Regression of bugs from PASS I and PASS II will be executed and Adhoc Testing will also be conducted in this Pass.
    PASS II Exit Criteria
    • 100% test case execution of all priority 1 and priority 2 test cases, including end to end scenarios with Pass result.
    • 90% of the executed SIT test cases pass (all priorities).
    • All severity 1/2 and Priority 1/2 bugs are closed.
    • All active severity 3 bugs should have a signoff from PgM/Dev/Test.
    • No Severity 1/2, Priority 1/2 bugs during SIT wrap up time (Last 3 days of SIT).
    • No environment related issues during SIT wrap up time (Last 3 days of SIT).
    • All resolved bugs must be closed.

    Re: Entry and Exit Criteria

    Hi

Smoke Testing is a testing type. This will be performed before we proceed with the System Testing.
This testing involves installation of the application, and verify the END to End flow. We can assume, this is a kind of health check performed to see if the Application is suitable to start with the System Testing.

I hope this will answer ur question.
    Thanks

Entry and Exit Criteria will be defined by the Test Manager and the Test lead which will be again discussed with the Stake holders to agree upon the same.
