    How to provide testing Estimations

    Hi,
I have never followed any software estimation metric to provide the testing estimations. Can anyone help me to understand what are most common methods being used to measure
    1. No of days reqd to complete the testing cycle ?
    2. No of days reqd to complete writing the testcases?
( I understd it all depends on the complexity of the requirement. But how do we answer these std question in a interview?)

    Thanks
    Shilpa

hi shilpa the most common methods being used to measure 1. No of days reqd to complete the testing cycle ? 2. No of days reqd to complete writing the testcases? first of all we have go through all the documents related to software like srs, functional specification document, use case document and screen shots.after reviewing all the documents we have an idea of the software.if u have any queries, then we wil go for review meetings like internal and external review meetings.once all the dobuts all clarified u can get a clear idea of the process of software, then u go for software demo.it gives a clear cut idea of all the modules involved in it.then we have to prepare the test paln.it gives all the deatils of testing process.we have to prepare the test schudule and task schedule by identifying the scope of functionality and gui test. We can estimate the time how much it takes for testing and to write test cases, but we can't exactly say these many no of days requried for it.it many depends upon diffferent resourses and responsibilities. Hope so u can get an idea of it.
(if any thing wrong plz revert back.....)
