    Problem in puzzles forum....

    Admin,

In Brainteasers forum all the post are sorted by number of reply.

I think this not a good idea for this forum.

    I told you one situation.

i post a new puzzle. some one want some clarification for my puzzle. now the number of reply post is one. After i replied for the clarification the number of reply post is two...so now the puzzle moved in somewhere else..not in the first page...

Now i post one more new puzzle then nobody seen my old puzzle..that old puzzle still unanswered....

I hope you understand what i say....

It is funny how perspective varies
Well, even I was skeptical about the idea of sorting by number of posts. If you check this Feedback forum again, you will find a thread named "A suggestion" initiated by our friend James.

James felt that, unanswered puzzles should be on top so that people answer these unanswered questions first. It does make sense to me too. (Mind you, it was a very good and sensible suggestion for the reason he quoted)

But, unfortunately you too have a point!!!

The point is we can sort this thread in any way. (Any of the ways you see in that Drop Box "Sorted by"). Very recently we have changed the default order from last posted to number of posts.

I am really confused, hence I choose silence - as of now.

    Cheers,
    Kalayama

    It’s common with such changes.

What I mean is, it is studied and believed over the years that, “a change may benefit one, but it may also trouble the other”.

This time, the change (unanswered post first order of threads in forums) has benefited some forums, but it’s not good for some other forums like Suresh has mentioned above.

It was believed that such change would be good for forums like “Brainteasers”. But, unfortunately now, we have a new problem with the same forum.

Smart post sutnarcha. You too chose not to take sides - like me

Both kalayama and sutnarcha replies are good...

I have one idea in brainteasers forum....

Initially we move all the new puzzles into the sticky board...

Once a puzzle has answered then it moves to the normal board...

But i don't know this is possible........Admin can clarify this one...

    It's my small suggestion...

It is possible but, an extra work for Moderator!
I don't think vBulletin provides such controls. Only admin can answer this. I think we should be able to make all new threads sticky right? Then moderator should demote the threads from sticky on a regular basis based on the replied the thread has got.

But it is all to tedious. Somehow I feel making unanswered questions sticky (moderator does this if the quiz doesn't get any answers after some time) makes more sense. I think that's how James is handling it now.

Well, either ways James will be a busy man

    Suresh,

Add you as Moderator for Brain Teasers section.... You and James can work together on that ...

In the mean time I will look around for any code hacks we can do....

    Thanks,
